A ground drilling enquiry should be based on site information rather than inferred from a service image. The team needs to understand what the holes are for, where the work is proposed and whether suitable equipment access may be available.

Explain the purpose and hole requirements

State whether the enquiry relates to house foundations, fence posts, power-pole foundations, civil or construction work, or another drilling requirement. Provide the number of holes and any known diameter and depth. If dimensions have not been specified, identify who will confirm them rather than estimating them through the website.

Show the site and access route

Include wide photos of the work area, the route from the site entrance and the space available around the proposed drilling points. Mention gates, overhead restrictions, soft ground, slopes and nearby structures. Equipment suitability cannot be confirmed until access and working space have been reviewed.

Information to prepare

  • The number of holes and their intended purpose.
  • Required hole dimensions, including diameter and depth if known.
  • Available information about underground services and site restrictions.
  • The access route and working space available for drilling equipment.
  • A marked photo, drawing or plan showing proposed hole locations.
  • The project contact responsible for confirming dimensions and site information.

Underground services and approvals

Do not assume that a clear surface means the ground is free of services or restrictions. Provide any existing plans or service information available to you. Required locating, approvals, engineering information and safe-work arrangements must be identified for the specific project.

The image on this page is a service visual and is not presented as a completed project. Site requirements, equipment, price and timing must be reviewed before the work scope is confirmed. See Ground Drilling Services for the service overview.
